Unimatic gives its Modello Quattro a quieter kind of toughness
The moss-coloured Langhe edition keeps a 300-metre steel tool-watch case beneath its softer palette and deer-leather strap.

Colour editions can be an excuse to photograph the same watch again. Unimatic's Langhe group is more interesting because its moss, fog and truffle palette is carried across different cases, leaving the underlying instrument visible. The 40 mm Modello Quattro U4S-NPB is a useful place to test the idea: does a soft, landscape-derived colour make a 300-metre tool watch more approachable without blurring what it is for? Unimatic's exact product page establishes the current configuration and price, but no trustworthy announcement day, so this is an analysis rather than a launch story.
Moss on a monoblock bezel
The Quattro uses a satin moss dial in a brushed 316 stainless-steel case with a fixed monoblock bezel. Unlike a diver with a rotating timing scale, the top surface forms a broad metal frame around the green centre. In the brand's wrist photograph, that frame makes the colour look contained rather than loud. Unimatic uses cool grey for the seconds rail and dial details, while the hands and hour markers keep the practical shapes for which its tool watches are known. The colour changes the mood, not the reading order.
The watch is 40 mm in diameter and rated to 300 metres, with each example individually tested according to Unimatic. A 2.8 mm flat sapphire crystal has anti-reflective treatment on the inner side. That is unusually specific crystal thickness information to find on a product page, and it fits the broader point: a softer palette has not turned this into a delicate dress watch. The fixed bezel does mean a wearer seeking an elapsed-time dive scale should look at the Modello Uno in the same Langhe colours instead. The four case families serve different uses.
A strap that explains the palette
Unimatic supplies a two-piece military deer-leather strap with quick-release fittings and brushed signed hardware. The product page describes the Langhe colours as Moss, Fog and Truffle, inspired by the Italian landscape. The leather matters because it gives the dial a tactile partner; this would be a more conventional watch on a bright rubber strap. The brand photographs suggest a quiet, almost fabric-like presentation, but the actual feel and how the leather ages cannot be judged from a screen. Leather also changes the way one might use a 300-metre-rated case, regardless of the case's laboratory rating.

The movement is the automatic Sellita SW200-1B, running at 28,800 vibrations per hour. Unimatic lists stop seconds, accuracy of plus or minus 12 seconds per day, a minimum 38-hour reserve and a typical 41 hours. Those two reserve figures should not be collapsed into a single guarantee. A day off the wrist is unlikely to matter; a full weekend may. The familiar calibre is a sensible match for a watch whose argument is in case construction and proportion, rather than an attempt to sell an exotic engine beneath a field-watch dial.
Why the Quattro rather than the others?
The same moss colour appears on a Modello Uno, Due and Cinque, which the official page links alongside the Quattro. Their sizes are shown as 41.5, 38 and 36 mm respectively, while the Quattro is 40 mm. The existence of four case choices is a better reason to call this a collection than three related paint codes alone. It lets someone who likes the palette decide whether they need a diver's rotating bezel, a smaller case or the Quattro's fixed, broad frame. I would not assume each case has identical technical specifications merely because it shares a colour.
The Quattro's broad brushed bezel is the element that makes the moss dial feel most deliberate to me. It visually reduces the dial and gives the green a boundary, while the absence of a date keeps the layout clean. The edition marking on the back refers to Langhe, Fog, Moss and Truffle. Unimatic says this exact reference is individually numbered in an edition of 200. A limitation that small can make the catalogue move quickly, but rarity is not the main editorial point; the consistent case-and-colour treatment is.
There is a modest contradiction worth acknowledging in the proposition, though not in the specification. A 300-metre tool watch on deer leather is unlikely to be used to its rated depth while dressed exactly as sold. That does not make the rating meaningless. It leaves the owner with a resilient case and a strap chosen for ordinary life, with quick-release fittings if a different context demands one. For many buyers that is a sensible allocation of attention, provided the marketing does not confuse leather with dive equipment.
Unimatic Modello Quattro U4S-NPB pricing and availability
The official page lists the moss Quattro at €1,190 with tax and duties included for the selected Australian shipping region. It displays an add-to-cart button and estimated shipping within two to four business days. The exact reference UWK-U4S-NPB is limited to 200 individually numbered pieces. The site also shows the Fog and Truffle Quattro variants at the same €1,190, while Australian-dollar pricing is not stated there.
The worthwhile part of Langhe is not that green has become fashionable again. It is that Unimatic has applied a restrained palette to distinct tools and allowed the case choice to remain the buyer's first decision. In the Quattro, the moss dial gains its character from the metal surrounding it.
