Girard-Perregaux gives Williams F1 two blue Laureatos

The first watches from the partnership share a 42 mm steel case and FW48-inspired blue dial, with a three-hander and chronograph taking different mechanical routes.

Motorsport-branded watches often stop at a team colour and a logo. Girard-Perregaux has not avoided either device in its first pair made with Atlassian Williams F1 Team, but it has placed them inside one of its most recognisable designs. Announced on 17 September 2026, both use blue Clous de Paris dials, red accents and an integrated steel bracelet, with enough movement and case detail to distinguish the two beyond their display layouts. They are the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Williams Edition 42mm and Girard-Perregaux Laureato Chronograph Williams Edition 42mm.

The Williams treatment is clearest at the edge

Both dials take their blue from the Williams FW48, the team's 2026 Formula 1 car, according to Girard-Perregaux. The colour is carried by a Clous de Paris surface rather than a flat lacquer, so the small pyramids shift between bright and dark blue as the watch moves. Red minute-track details and a red tip on the central seconds hand make the racing connection more explicit. The neatest mark is the white Williams W set at 12 above the double-baton hour marker, adding the team identity without turning the centre of the dial into advertising.

The shared case is 42 mm across, with the Laureato's octagonal bezel and integrated bracelet. Girard-Perregaux alternates satin-brushed and polished surfaces across the case and links, an important choice on a broad steel watch because it stops the entire object reading as one bright plane. Sapphire crystals sit over the dials, and both watches are rated to 100 metres. Their sapphire casebacks carry a metallised Williams emblem, preserving the partnership detail on the reverse as well as the front.

The bracelet is not secondary to the design. Its first links continue directly from the case, making the 42 mm diameter feel like part of a wider piece of steel rather than an isolated round head. A triple-folding clasp closes each version. That construction gives the collaboration a useful constraint: the blue and red elements have to work within the existing Laureato architecture, instead of relying on a conventional strap that could be changed to create an instant team colourway.

Girard-Perregaux Laureato Williams Edition 42mm

Reference 81010-11-3680-1GM is the simpler of the pair. It measures 10.68 mm thick and uses a conventional three-hand layout with a date at three. The blue frame around the date helps it sit within the dial, though it remains the only interruption to the Clous de Paris field. Rhodium-plated baton markers carry luminous material, while the slim red-tipped seconds hand provides the strongest moving colour accent.

Inside is the self-winding GP01800. Girard-Perregaux lists 191 components, 28 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations an hour and a minimum power reserve of 54 hours. Its functions are hours, minutes, centre seconds and date. The transparent back reveals the movement and a rotor decorated with circular Côtes de Genève, which gives the time-only watch a view worth keeping despite the Williams emblem applied to the crystal above it.

Girard-Perregaux Laureato Chronograph Williams Edition 42mm

Reference 81020-11-3681-1GM is 12.16 mm thick and uses 904L steel for its case and bracelet. Three counters occupy the blue dial, each framed by a rhodium-plated ring. Those pale rings make the chronograph more graphic than the three-hander, while a red central chronograph seconds hand and small red details continue the team palette. The date moves to a diagonal position between four and five, leaving the subdials to control the main symmetry.

The self-winding GP03300 has 361 components, 45 jewels and the same 4 Hz frequency as the GP01800. Its minimum power reserve is 46 hours. It drives the chronograph, hours and minutes, small seconds and date. Girard-Perregaux describes Côtes de Genève, chamfering and straight graining among its finishes. This is not a racing-derived mechanism, but elapsed-time measurement gives the chronograph a functional connection to the partnership that the time-only model cannot claim.

Putting the pair together makes the design decision easier to read. The time-only model leaves more room for the blue texture and the hidden W, and its 10.68 mm thickness should make the 42 mm case less imposing. The chronograph is busier and thicker, but its silver counter rings give the dial clearer depth and its extra controls suit the harder-edged Williams treatment. Neither is a limited edition on Girard-Perregaux's product pages, so the choice is about layout and movement rather than a scarcity number.
