Hamilton added a blue-dial Khaki Field Murph 38mm on 1 September 2026, giving its cinema-linked field watch a more atmospheric face without changing the compact mechanical package. Reference H70405740 pairs a blue-to-black textured dial with a stainless-steel case and black leather strap.

The colour is the new element. Blue is brightest near the centre, then darkens towards the edge, while a fine grained texture adds depth. Hamilton describes the effect through an interstellar theme, but the practical result is simpler: the familiar Murph layout now has more contrast and movement than the existing black versions.

The watch retains large Arabic numerals, cathedral-shaped hands and a clean three-hand display. Slightly domed numerals and Super-LumiNova preserve the field-watch character, while the absence of a date keeps the dial balanced.

There is still a useful tension in the design. The case and typography come from a practical field-watch vocabulary, while the gradient dial is overtly expressive. Hamilton has kept the handset and hour track familiar, so the colour changes the mood without making the watch harder to read.

A new dial for the 38mm Murph

The stainless-steel case is 38mm wide and 11.1mm thick, with 20mm lugs. Those dimensions are unchanged from the compact Murph format that broadened the model's appeal beyond the original 42mm version. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment covers the dial.

Hamilton has matched the new dial with a black calf-leather strap, white contrast stitching and an 18mm pin buckle. The combination is less overtly vintage than brown leather, and it gives the blue centre a darker frame.

At 38mm, the watch should also carry that visual effect differently from the larger original Murph. The dial occupies a compact footprint, and the dark edge visually contains the brighter centre. A polished bezel catches the light around that darker frame, while the black strap keeps the colour contrast restrained.

Water resistance is rated to 10 bar, or 100 metres. That is a useful everyday specification for a watch sold on a leather strap, even if the strap itself will still need the usual care around water.

The 11.1mm thickness keeps the proportions controlled for an automatic watch with a display back. A 20mm lug width also leaves owners with a broad choice of replacement straps, should they want to move away from the supplied black calf leather.

H-10 power and a visible caseback

Inside is Hamilton's automatic H-10 calibre. The movement provides an 80-hour power reserve and uses a Nivachron balance spring. An open caseback exposes the movement, a feature that separates this Murph from field watches designed around a closed military-style back.

The H-10 is used here for hours, minutes and central seconds only. There is no date mechanism to interrupt the dial and no added complication competing with the colour treatment. The restrained specification suits the Murph's role as a character-led design rather than a technical instrument panel.

An 80-hour reserve is long enough for the watch to come off the wrist for several days and return without an immediate reset. The Nivachron balance spring adds resistance to everyday magnetic fields, temperature changes and shocks, according to Hamilton's description of the material.

Hamilton continues to connect the model to Interstellar, where the Murph watch served as part of the story between Cooper and his daughter. The blue version is not presented as a prop replica or a limited edition. It is a new current-collection expression that builds on the design established by the film watch.

That distinction matters. The story explains the name, but the watch does not require film memorabilia details to work. Its case size, water resistance and long-running automatic calibre are conventional enough for daily use, while the new dial supplies the identifying feature.
