The proportions are the headline

The stainless-steel case measures 40mm across, 10mm thick and 45.5mm from lug to lug. Those numbers place it well away from the oversized pilot's-watch stereotype, and the restrained bezel gives the dial most of the available space. A fully brushed finish keeps reflections down and lets the case shape provide its own definition. It is a compact arrangement on paper, and the short length should make the watch easier to position on a wider range of wrists.

Mühle has used a blue dial with large Arabic numerals, a clear outer minute track and lancet-shaped hands. Luminous material covers the principal indications, so the visual logic remains straightforward in low light. A date window sits at three o'clock. The historical cue is not faux ageing or decorative military language; it is the priority given to quick reading. That is a better way to revisit an instrument watch than applying nostalgia to every component.

A 1996 watch, edited for 2026

The original Marineflieger-I appeared in 1996, at the beginning of Mühle-Glashütte's wristwatch production.
