Tiffany gives its Timer a titanium case and a gold bird

Tiffany's second Timer for 2026 puts titanium, platinum and a hand-finished gold bird around its customised automatic chronograph.

Tiffany & Co. has announced the second Tiffany Timer of 2026, a 100-piece chronograph built from grade 5 titanium and platinum. Its dark blue dial carries bright Tiffany Blue accents, while the back turns the house's Bird on a Rock motif into a small 18k yellow-gold sculpture mounted on the winding rotor. Sales are due to begin in September.

The first Timer released earlier this year used a platinum case, a Tiffany Blue dial and a run of 60. This follow-up changes both the visual weight and the production number. Satin-finished titanium forms the main case, platinum is retained for the bezel, and the edition grows to 100 watches. The result is a darker, more technical companion to the earlier model without abandoning the precious-metal detail.

Tiffany frames the release around the 160th anniversary of its 1866 Tiffany Timing Watch, which the company describes as its first stopwatch. The name changed to Tiffany Timer two years later, around the period when the house established a watch assembly workshop in Switzerland. The 2026 model uses that history as a starting point, but its materials and automatic movement are entirely contemporary.

A cooler case for the second Timer

The 40mm case has soft curves through the bezel and lugs, with chronograph pushers that follow its outline and double as crown guards. Tiffany has not published thickness or weight, so the dimensional comparison ends at the stated diameter. The bezel provides the contrasting platinum surface around the dial, and a sapphire window fills the back.

Dark blue covers the sunray-finished dial. Tiffany Blue appears around the subdial scales, the outer chronograph seconds track and the date aperture at six o'clock. Twelve steel hour markers sit above that colour, while the hour, minute and subdial hands are white gold. The layout remains legible because each register has a distinct job: chronograph minutes at three, chronograph hours at six and running seconds at nine.

The centre chronograph hand reads against the outer scale, and the date shares the lower portion of the dial with the hour counter. There is plenty happening, but the palette limits the ingredients to navy, silver and a controlled ring of turquoise. The blue accents are functional markings as much as brand identifiers.

The bird migrates to the rotor

The strongest detail is on the reverse. Tiffany has adapted Jean Schlumberger's Bird on a Rock design for the openworked winding rotor. The bird measures 1.4cm wide and is made from 18k yellow gold, providing a warm point of colour within the otherwise grey movement and case.

Tiffany says the miniature is engraved by hand and polished with traditional tools, including diamond abrasives and gentian wood. It perches on the outer sweep of the rotor, so winding motion carries it across the movement under the sapphire back. The edition inscription appears on the surrounding caseback and confirms the total of 100.

Placing the jewellery detail on the reverse leaves the chronograph display clear while giving the mechanical side a feature that belongs specifically to Tiffany. The bird is not hidden, but discovering it still requires turning the watch over.

An El Primero recut for Tiffany

Inside is a customised El Primero 400, an integrated automatic chronograph with a column wheel. Tiffany's release specifies a 50-hour power reserve and identifies the sculpted bird as part of the winding system. The watch displays hours, minutes, small seconds, a date and elapsed time through its three-register chronograph.

The El Primero connection also ties the modern Timer to a long-running Swiss chronograph architecture. Tiffany gives the dial a balanced three-register arrangement and modifies the rotor instead of concealing the calibre beneath a solid back. The approach keeps the movement recognisable while making its most visible moving component unmistakably the brand's own.

Water resistance is rated to 10 ATM, unusually practical for a dress-led precious-metal chronograph. A navy alligator strap continues the dial colour, secured by a triple-folding clasp made from steel and titanium. Tiffany also includes a five-year international warranty.

September release without a published price

Tiffany says the titanium and platinum Timer will be available from September 2026 and limits production to 100 watches. The company announcement does not publish a price in any currency. A standard retail figure therefore remains unavailable until Tiffany adds one to its public material.

That omission does not obscure what distinguishes this edition. It exchanges the first model's all-platinum, Tiffany Blue presentation for a titanium case, platinum bezel and dark blue dial, then reserves the house colour for the indications. The hand-finished gold bird supplies the jewellery flourish, but the watch remains a fully specified automatic chronograph with a practical water-resistance rating and a clearly stated delivery month.
