Timex and Jacquie Aiche put rose quartz in the Éclat

Two 24 mm rectangular watches share a crystal-lined case and an eye motif, but choose different dial materials and very different colour schemes.

Small rectangular watches have a habit of becoming either exercises in restraint or miniature jewellery boxes. Timex and Jacquie Aiche have chosen the second path without losing a readable watch face. Their latest collaboration, announced on 17 September, uses the designer's eye motif, crystal-set markers and a narrow case that sits between a bracelet and a pendant in character. There are two versions, one with a rose-quartz dial and two-tone metal, the other gold-toned throughout. The collection is the Timex x Jacquie Aiche Éclat.

Rose quartz gives the two-tone reference its centre

The TW6A15000 is the more distinctive of the pair. Natural rose quartz supplies the pink dial, so its colour has the uneven depth of a material rather than a printed finish. A stylised eye sits in the middle, with crystal markers spaced around it and another 28 crystals set along the bezel. The polished stainless-steel case and bracelet mix silver and gold tones, keeping the frame brighter than the dial without making it monochrome. A black detail on the crown is a small but useful interruption in all that shine.

Timex calls the case 24 mm in diameter, although this is a rectangle, so the 34 mm lug-to-lug dimension gives a better sense of its length along the wrist. The case stands 9 mm high and the bracelet meets it at an 18 mm band width. Those figures describe a compact watch that still occupies a meaningful patch of the wrist, particularly because the crystal-lined vertical edges draw the eye up and down. Timex lists the rose-quartz version at 85.44 g. The mineral crystal is a pragmatic choice at this price rather than a claim of high-end jewellery construction.

Gold tone changes the dial, not the architecture

The TW6A15200 keeps the same 24 mm by 34 mm by 9 mm dimensions but replaces the stone with a gold-tone sunray dial. It also gives both case and bracelet the same gold-coloured finish. Look closely and the eye motif and crystal markers remain, so the difference is less about complication than texture: the quartz has its own mottled material character, while the sunray finish arranges the light in lines from the centre. The second model is listed at 86.35 g, only a small change on paper from the rose-quartz watch.

I find the gold-tone version the clearer design statement. The dial and bracelet form one continuous colour field, which lets the coloured eye stand out without competing with a pink ground. Others will quite reasonably prefer the natural stone, especially because each piece can show its own variations. Neither choice makes much sense as a tool watch, and neither is trying to. The pleasure here is in seeing how the same case can read as a different piece of jewellery when the dial material and metal colour change.

Both use battery-powered quartz analogue movements, luminous in-fill on the hands and butterfly clasps on their steel bracelets. Timex specifies 30 metres of water resistance and describes that rating as suitable for hand washing or accidental splashes, not swimming. The hands should therefore remain legible when a room gets dim, but the crystals and polished surfaces are intended to be seen in ordinary light. The caseback and bracelet are steel, and Timex states that the rose-quartz model takes an SR626SW battery; it does not give an estimated battery life on the product page.

Turn either watch over and the decorated face gives way to a plain steel back with the eye motif engraved again, a quieter continuation of the collaboration's visual signature. The bracelet closes with a butterfly clasp, keeping the two halves visually balanced when it is fastened. Timex also gives an adjustable wrist-circumference range of 135 to 190 mm for the band, which is a more useful buying detail than the 24 mm case number alone if the watch is being considered as a gift. This is still a bracelet that may need sizing.

The product pages do not state a production limit, so this is a two-reference collaboration rather than a numbered limited edition on the available evidence.
