  • The 800-piece Redentore Two Harbors combines a printed New York skyline, raised brass relief and off-centre mother-of-pearl dial.
  • A compact NH05A automatic drives hours and minutes in a 40 mm steel case with 50-metre water resistance.
  • The list price is US$975 or €850; in-person Windup orders precede the planned 26 October online release.

Venezianico and Windup have built a watch around a journey between Venice and New York. The Redentore Two Harbors is a limited edition built around an imagined passage from Venice to New York, with the Statue of Liberty standing in front of a printed skyline and the time moved to a small mother-of-pearl display. The collaboration was presented by Windup Watch Shop on 13 October, ahead of the New York fair on 16–18 October. It is an unusually literal travel story for a watch that does not show a second time zone.

The interesting question is whether that scene can still function as a watch dial. Venezianico has given the artwork most of the face, leaving the hours and minutes to a compact two-hand register near three o'clock. It is a different approach from printing a city name on an otherwise conventional watch. The picture, movement choice and case proportions all follow from the decision to put the journey first.

A skyline built in layers

The backdrop starts with a treated brass base carrying a grainy, four-colour print of New York. Venezianico says the visible texture borrows from twentieth-century American magazines and photography. In front of it, the Statue of Liberty and nearby buildings rise as a separate brass relief. The brand says it strikes these elements with a dedicated die, finishes them by hand, rhodium-plates them and applies an antique silver treatment. Mineral oils deepen the shadows in the relief.

That mix matters more than the map-like premise. A flat illustration could have made the watch feel like a souvenir; the raised metal creates foreground and background as the wrist moves. The brand's close photographs show the statue extending across the lower left of the dial while the skyline recedes behind it. The printed sky supplies colour without asking the small time display to share its surface with numerals, date windows or a conventional central seconds hand.

The separate time register is brushed mother-of-pearl. It sits above the city rather than being disguised as part of a building. That visual break helps the two hands remain a readable instrument within an elaborate picture. Legibility will still depend on light and angle, particularly because the register is relatively small, but the decision to isolate it gives the watch a plausible way to be both an illustration and a timekeeper.

A compact movement makes room for the scene

The case is 316L stainless steel, 40 mm across, 46.7 mm lug to lug and 11.5 mm thick. A sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective treatment covers the layered construction. Venezianico specifies 5 ATM, or 50 metres, of water resistance and a handcrafted Italian leather strap. The blue strap extends the sea-colour palette without adding another scene to the watch.

Inside is the automatic NH05A, a compact two-hand calibre. Venezianico quotes its diameter as 19.4 mm. Its job here is practical: driving a small, displaced hour-and-minute display while leaving the centre and left side of the dial free for the relief. Neither organisation presents the watch as a travel-time complication, and buyers should not mistake its cross-Atlantic story for a GMT function.

The case back carries the journey in a quieter form. Venezianico shows Venice and New York as opposing engraved skylines with a central Windup New York mark and an individual edition number around the outer edge. Rotating the watch makes one city or the other upright. It is a small piece of narrative design that suits a numbered collaboration, even if most owners will spend more time looking at the dial than the back.

What the collaboration is actually selling

Windup is the New York setting and collaboration partner, and the fair is the first place the public is due to see the watch. That context explains both the city chosen for the relief and the presentation box, whose illustrations trace the journey across its surfaces. The box is more elaborate than a standard limited-edition sleeve, but it does not need to carry the concept by itself. The materials on the dial are where the idea becomes specific to a watch.

Venezianico numbers the edition at 800 pieces. That is large enough to make this a planned product rather than a one-off show piece, but limited enough for the individual number and event engraving to be meaningful to a buyer who attended Windup. The decision to keep the case at 40 mm also matters: it offers a generous surface for the artwork without making the watch a giant display object. The 46.7 mm span is the more useful fit measurement to compare with an existing watch.

Price and availability

The brand lists the Redentore Two Harbors at US$975 on its American page and €850 on its international product page. Neither page provides an Australian-dollar list price. Venezianico says visitors can place early orders in person at Windup Watch Fair New York from 16 to 18 October; the international online release is scheduled for 26 October at 3 pm GMT+1. Windup says a limited number will also be available to buy at the fair.

There is a clear trade-off. The artwork makes a strong, detailed argument for Venice meeting New York, while the small off-centre register asks the wearer to look deliberately for the time. If immediate at-a-glance reading is the only priority, a simpler Redentore will be easier. If the attraction is a physical dial with print, metal relief and mother-of-pearl working at different depths, Two Harbors gives its travel story a real object to live in.
