Yema has returned to the core Superman formula with a colour that is less obvious than its name suggests. Published on 10 September, the Yema Superman Steel Blue CMM.10 pairs a 39 mm steel case and dive bezel with a polished black ceramic insert with a sunray dial that shifts from navy to brighter blue. The brand's CMM.10 automatic calibre and a choice of steel or rubber complete the watch.

Steel blue rather than another bright diver

The dial is the release's defining change. Its radial finish moves through darker and lighter blue as the angle changes, while polished applied hour markers add another reflective layer. Yema fills those markers and the steel hour and minute hands with Grade A BGW9 Super-LumiNova. A lollipop seconds hand gives a clear running indication, and the lower text retains the Superman's French-language identity.

There is no date window. That decision preserves the clean symmetry of a dial whose effect depends on uninterrupted colour, and it leaves the oversized applied markers room to work. The bezel's black insert is a useful restraint, framing the shifting blue instead of trying to match it. Its polished ceramic surface carries a 60-minute scale and a luminous triangle at 12 o'clock.

Yema's bezel-lock remains the recognisable functional detail. Tightening the screw-down crown secures the unidirectional bezel in position under the small steel arm beside it. The brand traces this device to the original Superman of 1967. It gives the contemporary watch an honest link to its predecessor.

Compact proportions, serious water resistance

The 316L stainless-steel case measures 39 mm in diameter, 47 mm from lug to lug and 11.3 mm thick. Its upper surfaces are vertically brushed and the chamfers are polished, a combination that should keep the compact case from looking flat. The lug width is 19 mm, although both supplied bracelet options are shaped specifically for the case.

A 2.2 mm double-domed sapphire crystal provides the curvature associated with older acrylic crystals without giving up modern scratch resistance. The screw-down crown and sapphire display back maintain a water-resistance rating of 300 metres. A transparent back on a serious dive watch can seem indulgent, but here it exposes the movement that distinguishes this Superman from the brand's more conventional automatic models without reducing the stated depth rating.

On the front, the bezel, dial furniture and crystal all point towards the Superman's historical design. The dimensions keep that vocabulary wearable rather than oversized. At 11.3 mm thick, it is also relatively restrained for a 300-metre automatic diver with a raised crystal and display back. That balance is a stronger argument than colour alone.

CMM.10 and two bracelet characters

The CMM.10 is an automatic calibre developed by Yema in Morteau. Components are produced in France and Switzerland within the regional supply network, while Yema says the bridges and mainplates are made and the movement is assembled and regulated in its own workshops. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides 70 hours of power reserve.

Yema rates the movement to minus 3 or plus 5 seconds per day. The display back shows its symmetrical bridge layout and a dark skeletonised rotor, while the outer steel ring carries an individual serial number. The watch provides central hours, minutes and seconds only, matching the date-free dial.

The Scales Slim steel bracelet has closely articulated, scale-shaped links and a fully brushed finish. Its clasp includes tool-free on-the-fly micro-adjustment, a practical feature for a dive watch that will experience changes in temperature and wrist size. The alternative is an integrated FKM Viton rubber strap, offered in small and large lengths and secured with a sandblasted steel buckle.

Those options alter more than price. Steel reinforces the Superman's distinctive 1960s-derived character, while black rubber places more emphasis on the blue dial and ceramic bezel. Because both fit the case closely, neither looks like an afterthought. The five-year international warranty applies to the CMM.10-equipped watch, and Yema lists worldwide delivery from its French workshop.
