INHORGENTA Vintage puts pre-owned watches beside the trade fair
The Munich organiser has dated its 2027 consumer-facing pavilion for vintage jewellery and pre-owned watches, with authentication expertise planned on site.

The most interesting part of a vintage watch fair is often the conversation beside the display case: what is original, what has been replaced, and who can make a defensible call. INHORGENTA, long organised around the specialist trade, is giving that conversation a public room of its own. Its organiser announced on 30 September that INHORGENTA VINTAGE will run beside the next Munich fair, with pre-owned watches sharing the floor with vintage and antique jewellery.
A public hall beside a trade fair
The pavilion is scheduled for 19 to 22 February 2027 in Hall B0 at Messe München, adjoining the main event. The distinction between the two spaces matters. INHORGENTA says its established fair will remain a business-to-business event, while the vintage area will admit collectors, jewellery and watch enthusiasts, and consumers interested in buying. This is an expansion of audience at the edge of the fair, rather than a change to the access rules for the whole exhibition.
Watches are part of a broader vintage and pre-owned offer, not the sole subject of the hall. The organiser names Eppli among the confirmed participants, alongside jewellery dealers from Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. The announcement does not yet set out a watch-only exhibitor list or promise that any particular reference will be offered for sale. Readers planning a trip should treat the published dealer names as the current line-up, not as a complete inventory of watches.
Authentication is part of the programme
The most useful part for a buyer may be the announced expert service. INHORGENTA says Josef M. Stadl, president of the German Society for Chronometry, will offer authenticity and quality checks, with further expertise from gemmological organisations. It also names watch adviser Stefan Friesenegger among the panel. Jewellery and gemstone valuations by Dr Heide Rezepa-Zabel are described separately, with short appointments bookable in advance. Those different roles are worth keeping distinct: the release does not promise a formal valuation of every watch brought through the door.

For a collector, access to an expert while examining an object could make the difference between admiring a case and understanding its condition. An inspection at a fair still cannot replace a documented service history or independent due diligence before a substantial purchase. The organiser's own emphasis on authenticity, quality and provenance at least puts those questions in the open, where they belong.
What the new format says about the market
A consumer-facing pavilion beside a trade-only fair is a specific choice. It gives dealers a setting to meet private buyers during an event already drawing the jewellery and watch trade, while leaving the established business fair intact. That suggests the organiser sees enough interest in older objects to support a separate public format. It does not establish the size or growth rate of the pre-owned watch market, and the announcement gives no sales projections for this pavilion.
The name INHORGENTA VINTAGE might lead a watch reader to expect a dedicated watch fair. The organiser's description is wider: antique and vintage jewellery, pre-owned jewellery, and pre-owned watches. That breadth could make the pavilion more useful for someone interested in craft and provenance across categories, but it also means the eventual watch selection depends on exhibitors and their stock closer to February. No ticket price or appointment fee is stated in the announcement.
INHORGENTA VINTAGE dates and access
INHORGENTA VINTAGE is planned for Hall B0 at Messe München from 19 to 22 February 2027, running alongside INHORGENTA. The organiser identifies it as open to collectors, enthusiasts and consumers interested in buying; the main fair remains reserved for the specialist trade. The announcement names participating dealers and expert services, but provides no admission price. Anyone travelling specifically for watches should check the organiser's later exhibitor and visitor information before booking.
